Forty years of flour on Liberty Avenue
A Bloomfield institution since 1983 — woman-owned and family-run today.

1983Bloomfield
Baked into the neighborhood
Paddy Cake Bakery opened its doors on Liberty Avenue in 1983, in the heart of Bloomfield — Pittsburgh’s Little Italy. Four decades later, the ovens haven’t cooled: the same scratch recipes, the same early mornings, the same neighbors picking up Sunday pastries and birthday cakes.
In May 2021, Theresa Richter took the helm, and Paddy Cake proudly became a woman-owned small business. New energy, same promise: everything baked fresh, decorated by hand, and made for the people of Pittsburgh.
- Scratch-baked since 1983 — cakes, cookies, donuts, pastries and pies, every day.
- Woman-owned since 2021 — led by Theresa Richter.
- A true neighborhood bakery — generations of Bloomfield families celebrate with us.
From scratch, always
No shortcuts, no mixes — doughs, batters, fillings and icings made in-house.
Decorated by hand
Every rosette, border and sugar flower is piped by a real person who cares.
Part of the family
First birthdays, graduations, weddings — we’ve baked for the same families for decades.
Meet the bakery today
Under Theresa’s ownership, Paddy Cake keeps one foot in tradition and one in what’s next — classic Italian cookie trays beside modern wedding cakes, and the same warm welcome at the counter either way.
